The Tayana 37 is a full-keel cutter designed by naval architect Robert Perry and built in Taiwan in 1986. This fiberglass yacht sits low and stable in the water, with a full encapsulated keel and matching full-keel rudder connected to wheel steering. A new Beta Marine diesel engine with 361 hours powers the boat at a cruising speed of 4 knots and a maximum of 6 knots. The deck was fully re-glassed in 2023, and standing rigging was replaced in 2021.
The single cabin accommodates five people across a V-berth, pilot berth, and convertible saloon berth. Headroom reaches 6'5". The galley includes a Force 10 three-burner propane stove with oven, Danfoss refrigeration, Isotherm freezer capable of minus 1 degree Celsius, and a microwave. Water capacity is 150 gallons, fuel holds 90 gallons, and the electric head features saltwater flush with an outdoor saltwater shower and plumbed indoor shower. The boat carries a UV water purification system with dual micron filters.
The cutter rig features wire standing rigging, Lewmar self-tailing winches, and a Harken Unit 2 roller furler on the genoa and Unit 1.5 MKII on the staysail. The main has a single-line reefing system with lazy jacks. Sails include a genoa, staysail, and spinnaker. Navigation systems comprise a Raymarine Axiom 7 chartplotter with Garmin backup, Furuno radar, Raymarine wind and depth instruments, and ICOM AIS and VHF radios. Power comes from two 6-volt house battery banks, a 12-volt start bank, 120-amp alternator, 2×180-watt solar panels, and a 2350-watt portable generator. An eight-foot BRIS inflatable tender with Honda outboard is included, along with ground tackle featuring a 65-pound Mantus anchor and secondary 30-pound Claw anchor. Safety gear includes a four-person liferaft, eight life jackets, fire extinguishers, flares, bilge pumps, and an emergency tiller.
