1987 CS 40

The CS 40 is a performance-oriented cruising sailboat designed by Tony Castro, built with a fiberglass hull and powered by a diesel engine. This 1987 model features a shallow-draft wing keel and measures 40 feet in length with a 12.5-foot beam. The design balances racing capability with cruising comfort, making it suitable for extended passages.

The yacht offers two cabins and one head, providing modest but functional accommodations for cruising. The layout supports both living aboard and entertaining, typical of the CS 40's cruiser-racer philosophy.

Recent upgrades position this boat for reliable performance. A Yanmar diesel engine has been installed with 580 hours of running time. Sails were replaced in 2019 with a new main and furling jib. All standing and running rigging was renewed in 2022. The electrical system has been enhanced with lithium batteries, solar panels, a Balmar alternator, and a Victron inverter/charger, supporting off-grid operation. An Iverson dodger and canvas are fitted, and the boat carries updated B&G electronics.
