This 1987 Island Packet 31 is a full-displacement cruising sailboat built on a solid fiberglass hull with a full keel and skeg-hung rudder. The boat features a cream finish with claret boot and cove stripes, accented by teak caprails, handrails, and rubrails. Deck hardware includes a stainless steel bow pulpit, stanchions, and folding swim ladder with teak treads, along with aluminum-framed hatches and self-bailing cockpit drains. A porthole was replaced in 2024, and all ports are fitted with screens.
Below deck, the accommodations include a spacious forward vee berth with an overhead hatch and opening ports for ventilation. An enclosed head with pull-out shower and hot and cold pressure water was installed new in 2024, fitted with a marine head, stainless steel sink, and shower. The main salon features traditional port and starboard settees with a teak folding dining table; the starboard settee converts to a double berth. A U-shaped galley to port includes an Origo two-burner alcohol stove and oven with stainless steel sink and ample storage. A roomy quarter berth sits to starboard of the companionway, and the entire sole is finished in teak and holly. The cockpit is generous for a boat this size.
The 27 hp Yanmar 3GM30F diesel engine was serviced in 2025 and drives a three-bladed bronze prop through a Kanzaki reduction gear and stainless steel shaft. The boat carries 25 gallons of fuel, 70 gallons of water, and 22 gallons of holding tank capacity. A cutlass bearing is scheduled for replacement in 2025. Electrical power comes from two Group 27 deep cycle marine gel batteries installed in 2019, with a 200-watt solar panel added in 2025 and an Atwood six-gallon hot water heater. All instruments were professionally rewired in 2025, and a new flat screen smart TV was installed.
Navigation and sailing systems are well equipped: the boat features an Autothelm ST 3000 autopilot, a 2025 Garmin 540S GPS/chartplotter with New England charts, a Raymarine SL70 pathfinder radar, a Raytheon 24-mile radar serviced in 2025, two VHF radios, and a Gemini compass. The 2024 sails were inspected and mended and have only been sailed three times in the past year. The mast and boom are aluminum, the mainsail has two reef points, and a Harken roller furler handles the jib with a Mack Pack flaking system. Dual bilge pumps, a Bruce anchor with chain rode and spare Danforth, a bimini, and dodger complete the outfit.
