1989 Grand Banks 42 Classic

The 1989 Grand Banks 42 Classic is a fiberglass trawler designed for comfortable, efficient cruising across extended distances. Twin Cummins 5.9 6BT diesel engines producing 210 hp each power the boat to a cruising speed of 9 knots with a maximum speed of 15 knots. The boat measures 42 feet in length with a 13.58-foot beam and carries approximately 2,295 engine hours. A teak interior with warm joinery and parquet sole throughout defines the accommodations and living spaces.

Sleeping quarters include an aft owner's stateroom with an island berth and a forward guest stateroom with V-berths, along with two heads and separate shower compartments. The salon features a spacious L-shaped settee, teak dining table, and lower helm station beneath large opening windows. The galley—located forward to port—is equipped with a Princess three-burner electric cooktop, Princess oven, both a refrigerator and separate freezer, microwave, and generous storage. Climate control is provided by a Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioning system and a Webasto central diesel heating system.

Navigation and helm equipment at both the lower and upper stations include Garmin chartplotters with sonar and fishfinding capability, Furuno 24-mile radar, Robertson AP200 autopilot, ICOM VHF radios, and multiple compasses. The electrical system draws from an Onan 8kW generator, Xantrex 3000-watt pure sine wave inverter/charger, and four 8D AGM house batteries plus one 4D AGM generator battery. Ground tackle consists of a Lofrans electric windlass, 45 lb CQR anchor, and approximately 300 feet of chain.

Recent work includes new thru-hulls, cutlass bearings, and all sanitation hoses; a complete VacuFlush system rebuild; new bottom paint; exterior brightwork varnished; and decks refastened, re-bunged, and re-caulked. The boat includes a flybridge with bimini top, wide teak side decks with handrails, an Avon 10-foot RIB dinghy with a newer Mercury 6 hp outboard, and comprehensive fire suppression systems.
