The 1994 Ocean Alexander Classico 423 is a solidly built fiberglass trawler measuring 42 feet with a 14-foot beam. Twin Caterpillar 3208 NA diesel engines produce 420 horsepower combined and have logged approximately 4,100 hours each since their 2014 rebuild; roughly 1,000 hours have accumulated since that work. The boat cruises efficiently at 8.5 to 9 knots on 6 gallons per hour and reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots. A 600-gallon fuel capacity across three gravity-fed tanks with individual shutoffs supports extended cruising range. The hinged mast lowers to 14 feet 8 inches bridge clearance, making the boat suitable for the Great Loop, Intracoastal Waterway, and inland river systems.
The galley and accommodations include a full-beam master stateroom aft with a queen berth, an offset V-berth forward, and two heads with stand-up showers and electric toilets. A Westerbeke 8-kilowatt diesel generator provides auxiliary power. Climate control consists of a Kabola closed-loop multi-zone diesel heating system installed in 2019 with seven radiator and blower units across three zones, and dual reverse-cycle AC and heat units totaling 32,000 BTU. Navigation equipment includes Garmin chartplotters at both the flybridge and lower helm stations, with radar at the flybridge. A fully enclosed hardtop flybridge features wraparound seating and twin pedestal captain's chairs.
The boat carries an 8.5-foot Boss hard dinghy from 2005 with a 2006 Yamaha 9.9-horsepower four-stroke engine, deployed via electric crane. Recent maintenance includes new starter batteries and a new Racor dual fuel filter system in 2024, and a new water heater in 2025. Two spare propellers are aboard, serviced and rebalanced in 2023. The Simrad AP35 autopilot at both stations is not operational and would require replacement. Flybridge settee upholstery requires repair or replacement. The topside finish shows wear consistent with age. Spring commissioning, including bottom paint and bowsprit gelcoat touch-up, is scheduled for completion.
