This 1990 Irwin 54 is a fiberglass ketch powered by a Yanmar 110 hp diesel engine capable of 8 knots cruising and 9 knots at maximum speed. The boat underwent comprehensive mechanical and structural refitting from 2015 through 2017, including a complete engine overhaul, new transmission with updated gear set, new exhaust turbo, and a fresh 200-amp alternator. A Northern Lights 9kw generator was installed alongside new Garmin electronics featuring a 7612 chart plotter and four remote navigation pods.
The accommodations span three cabins and two heads. The master cabin features a centerline queen mattress and port-side L-shaped settee, while the forward guest cabin also has a centerline queen. Crew quarters provide two bunk beds. A new washer and dryer were added during the refit, and the refrigerator and freezer were reconstructed with enhanced 4-inch foam insulation.
Structural and exterior improvements include a custom hardtop with Awl Grip finish installed in 2015, topped with custom Sunbrella canvas enclosure and three Makrolon window panels with UV film. New Lewmar hatches and custom stainless-steel ports were fitted. A starboard composite dive platform was fabricated and installed. The main mast was removed and completely rewired, then re-stepped on a newly fabricated and powder-coated mast step. Both main and mizzen sail tracks were replaced.
The teak brightwork was refinished to bare wood in 2022 and finished with two coats of low-viscosity epoxy and four coats of Captain's varnish. Ground tackle consists of a new 40kg Rocna Vulcan fixed anchor with 200 feet of 5/16-inch high-test chain installed in 2017.
