The 1991 Beneteau First 53f5 is a 53-foot fiberglass cruising yacht designed by Farr and Pininfarina. Built as hull number six of this flagship model, the boat combines performance-oriented design with genuine blue-water capability. The 88-horsepower Yammer diesel engine drives the yacht, paired with a sensible 1.9-meter wing keel that suits East Coast cruising. Twin wheel steering and oversized winches—three of which are electric—make the boat manageable with a small crew, and a retractable bow thruster aids maneuvering in confined waters.
The three-cabin, three-head layout offers substantial interior space with curved joinery throughout. The saloon benefits from a signature centre skylight and 19 opening hatches that provide abundant natural light and ventilation. The galley includes generous bench workspace, a refrigerator, and a separate freezer. A dedicated navigation workstation rounds out the functional design. The cockpit is well-equipped with a furling mainsail and comprehensive protection: bimini, dodger with link sheet, side shade, and clear panels.
Systems include a generator, air-conditioning, and a Raymarine autopilot with AIS. Instrumentation features a new Garmin chartplotter installed in 2023. The boat was soda blasted and stripped of antifoul in 2021. Rudder bearings were replaced during the most recent annual haul-out in July 2025. A video tour is available for viewing.
