1991 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey

The 1991 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 51 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built for extended offshore passages. Powered by a Yanmar 4JH2-DTE diesel engine rated at 88 horsepower, she carries 100 gallons of fuel and has logged approximately 2,900 engine hours. The yacht achieves a comfortable cruising speed of around 6 knots in 12 knots of wind and demonstrates balanced, seaworthy performance characteristics.

The three-cabin owner's layout provides private sleeping quarters with custom mattress upgrades in the master cabin, plus three full heads for crew comfort. Galley facilities include a new refrigerator, large drop-in freezer, and a 1,600 BTU air conditioning unit. The twin helm configuration and custom aluminum hardtop with integrated dinghy lift define her deck design. Deck hatches may benefit from resealing.

The electrical plant has been substantially upgraded for off-grid cruising, featuring a 1,600-watt solar array, two 60-amp MPPT charge controllers, a Victron Multiplus 3,000-watt inverter/charger, and four 200-amp AGM batteries. Navigation relies on a modern Raymarine suite including a 9-inch MFD chartplotter with 3D graphics, AIS transceiver, autopilot system, 24-inch radar, and multiple instrument displays. Starlink hardware is installed.

Recent work includes standing rigging replacement in 2024, new Sobstad sails, engine injectors and turbo replacement in 2024, an 80-amp alternator replacement in 2026, and a bottom job completed in March 2026 along with topside paint refreshing. Included are a custom dinghy, 2025 Mercury 15HP four-stroke outboard, Viking six-person offshore life raft, EPIRB, personal locator beacons, and crew life jackets.
