The 1991 Oyster Lightwave 48 is a fiberglass bluewater cruiser designed by Carl Schumacher and built by Oyster Marine. One of only nineteen Lightwave 48s produced, she combines performance and seaworthiness for extended offshore passages. The yacht is powered by a single 55 hp Volvo Penta diesel engine and measures 48 feet in length with a 14.33-foot beam.
The interior accommodates three cabins and two heads. The boat has been through comprehensive refitting and upgrades between 2022 and 2025, including a rebuilt Volvo engine with factory parts, new Max-Prop propeller, new Lofrans windlass, and new boom. The galley is equipped with a Spectra 380C watermaker, and the electrical system includes a 525-watt solar array and new batteries installed in 2022.
Recent work includes a new Mantus 85-pound anchor, new bimini top, refreshed interior lacquer, and new interior upholstery. The propane system was updated to U.S. standard in 2024. Safety equipment has been serviced and updated, including a serviced Jonbuoy, new ditch bag, Mustang personal flotation devices, and an AIS transmitter.
