1993 J Boats J/130

The 1993 J/130 is a 43-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built for both racing and offshore cruising. Powered by a 47-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, she combines the performance characteristics of the J Boats design with the capability to handle extended passages. The boat features a Solent double head sail rig and carries three spinnakers.

Below deck, the interior includes three cabins and one head, with custom modifications throughout. The current owner, a furniture maker, has refurbished the spaces with custom cabinetry in the forward berth, a cockpit table for dining or a workbench, and an anchor windlass with dedicated locker forward. The galley includes a refrigerator and freezer powered by solar and wind power.

All mechanical and electrical systems have been updated or rebuilt between 2024 and 2025. The main sail was resewn and new head sails were installed in 2025. A tender—a new hypolon dinghy with an 8-horsepower Yamaha two-stroke engine and custom davit system—is included with the boat.

The yacht has an established cruising history. Early ownership included East Coast cruising and local racing, with participation in three Annapolis to Bermuda races and an Annapolis to Newport race. A subsequent complete refit in 2008 prepared her for extended offshore cruising, after which she was sailed across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, where she cruised extensively before returning to the Chesapeake Bay in 2017.
