The Montevideo 43 is a 1993 center cockpit cruising yacht designed by Fred Scholtz and built by Med Marine in South Africa. At 43 feet with a 13-foot beam and 6'6" draft, the boat features a fine bow and tall rig suited to fast, safe offshore cruising. The hull is fiberglass with an encapsulated keel. Power comes from a 50 hp Beta Marine diesel engine with access from three sides.
Below deck, the interior showcases three cabins and two heads arranged around a comfortable salon and galley. The joinery is detailed throughout, with many cabinet doors crafted from South African hardwoods. The layout was built to original owner specifications and reflects thoughtful cruising design.
Recent improvements include newly painted fiberglass decks and a teak swim platform with hinged hatch for easy water access. Standing rigging was replaced in 2020. The boat carries a full complement of cruising gear: a custom arch, davits, Garmin electronics, a Highfield 290 dinghy from 2023, ROCNA 33 kg anchor, solar panels added in 2022, lithium house batteries, an EchoTec watermaker, and an extensive sail inventory.
