1995 Freedom 45CC

The Freedom 45CC is a 1995 center-cockpit sailing yacht built on a balsa-core fiberglass hull designed by Gary Mull. Her standout feature is an innovative carbon-fiber, free-standing mast with no standing rigging, which creates an uncluttered deck and simplifies sail handling. The design yields a displacement of just 22,000 pounds—lighter than comparable vessels—enhancing both performance and fuel efficiency. At 64 feet in mast height, she fits the Intracoastal Waterway. The boat carries a 75-horsepower Yanmar auxiliary engine, a 6-kilowatt Northern Lights generator, and a three-blade Max-Prop. New custom Neil Pride sails and stack-pack were installed in October 2025.

The interior arranges two staterooms and two heads with showers. The master cabin features a queen island bed with abundant storage. The second cabin sleeps guests in a full-size V-berth. The galley includes a deep stainless sink with pull-down faucet, filtered water tap, hand pump, three-burner gimbaled stove with oven, and a recently refurbished top-loading refrigerator and freezer. A second freezer sits near the navigation station for extended provisioning. The salon showcases real-wood cabinetry, a dining table that seats six or more, a wine cabinet, and stereo throughout. The navigation station provides a swing-out chair and workspace below the cockpit, which houses easy-access engine and generator compartments.

Power systems include 490 amp-hour AGM house batteries installed in 2022, new start batteries, and 350 watts of solar panels mounted on new Kato dinghy davits fitted in 2025. Fresh water is held in two 68-gallon tanks plus a hand pump backup; fuel capacity totals 88 gallons across a keel tank and auxiliary tank. The wing-keel draft is 4 feet 11 inches, with a skeg-hung rudder. Climate control comes from a 16,000-BTU reverse-cycle air and heat system, and a central vacuum system serves the cabin and cockpit. Raymarine electronics include a new multifunction display from 2023. Recent updates include new bimini canvas in 2023 and a bottom paint from January 2024, with diver reports confirming sound condition. The full cockpit enclosure has removable panels for open-air sailing and includes a flip-out table. Access to the water is via a Sugar Scoop platform with outdoor shower and mounted grill.
