1996 Kadey-Krogen 48 Whaleback

The Kadey-Krogen 48 Whaleback is a purpose-built trawler designed for serious cruising. This 1996 model combines the builder's proven design with a single-level main deck layout that maximizes usable space—the full beam interior feels notably larger than comparable 48-foot vessels. Power comes from a Caterpillar 3208 NA diesel engine producing 210 horsepower, with just over 5,100 hours on the engine.

The interior has been updated over the years while preserving the classic Kadey-Krogen character and proportions. The boat is equipped with a Northern Lights generator at 3,600 hours, paired with modern electronics including dual Garmin 7612 GPS/plotters, Garmin radar, Garmin autopilot, and ICOM VHF. Stabilization is handled by Naiad stabilizers, while dual thrusters—bow and stern—provide excellent maneuvering control.

Additional features include a washer and dryer, Llebroc helm seat, and an Algae-X fuel polishing system for fuel management. The boat carries a 2015 AB Inflatable RIB tender equipped with a 20-horsepower Tohatsu four-stroke outboard, ready for exploring anchorages and coastal areas.
