The Krogen 48 Whaleback is a full displacement trawler built around single-level main deck efficiency. Its fiberglass hull spans 48 feet with a 17-foot beam, powered by a single 210-horsepower Caterpillar diesel engine. The layout integrates three staterooms, two heads, saloon, separate dining area, galley, office space, and aft deck on one continuous level—a design suited to extended cruising or liveaboard operation. Two of the three cabins include dedicated desk spaces alongside sleeping berths.
The elevated pilothouse offers 360-degree sightlines and serves double duty as an upper-deck lounge when at anchor. This model is distinguished among Krogen 48s by its Portuguese bridge design and separate saloon and dining spaces rather than a combined area. Storage, refrigeration, and comfortable seating throughout support both passage-making and extended anchoring.
Recent work includes bottom paint and running gear replacement, bow thruster propeller service, stabilizer service, and detailing completed in May 2025. New air conditioning units were installed in the pilothouse in 2024 and the saloon/galley in 2025. An inverter and battery bank are new, as are the washer and dryer. Undercounter refrigeration, upholstery, canvas, and window treatments have been replaced or upgraded throughout. Navigation equipment includes a recent Garmin chartplotter and closed-array radar. Oil analysis records are available.
