1996 Manta 40

The 1996 Manta 40 is a composite catamaran built for serious cruising. At 40 feet with a 21-foot beam, she combines the stability and space of a multihull with thoughtful engineering for offshore passages and extended anchoring. Twin Volvo MD2040 diesel engines deliver 40 horsepower each, giving her a cruising speed of 7 knots and a top speed near 8 knots, with approximately 900 nautical miles of range under power.

The layout maximizes comfort across three cabins: a private master suite in the port hull and two guest cabins in the starboard hull served by two heads and a shared shower. The cockpit features a full screen enclosure, and all sail controls lead back to the helm for single-handed operation. A Camberspar jib simplifies sail handling while underway.

A substantial hardtop spans the vessel, providing sun protection and ample deck space suitable for solar panels, sail gear storage, and a radar arch for secure dinghy stowage in heavy seas. The construction throughout is composite, offering durability for the demands of long-distance cruising and time away from port.
