The Able 44 Downeast Express Cruiser draws its character from traditional Maine lobster boat design while built entirely in fiberglass. Only six of these express cruisers were constructed. The hull features a modified vee shape forward that transitions to a hard chine aft, a profile that delivers speed, fuel efficiency, and responsive handling across the range from slow displacement cruising to faster transit—characteristics less common in conventional vee-bottomed designs.
The interior layout integrates generous living space with thoughtful accommodation design. Cherry joinery throughout the cabin represents high-quality craftsmanship, and storage is extensive and well-organized throughout the boat. Deck space is planned to support both comfort and utility during cruising.
Power comes from two Yanmar diesel engines totaling 880 horsepower, supporting cruising speeds around 20 knots. The boat has been maintained attentively, with clean bilges and well-executed varnish work reflecting owner care. It has had two previous owners.
