The Grand Banks 46 is a semi-displacement trawler motoryacht built by the American pioneer of the type. The hull design—with fine entry, deep V-shaped bottom, and broad aft waterline—is engineered for seaworthiness in demanding conditions. Topside, the boat presents a traditional, sturdy profile: vertical stem, angular deckhouse with steep windows, and a generous open aft deck. Wide side decks with high bulwarks and uncluttered spaces support safe movement and ample lounging areas, with easy access to the flybridge.
The saloon is bright and oriented toward views, with 360-degree sightlines through large deckhouse windows. Interior joinery is solid teak in satin finish, with extensive use of timber throughout mouldings and trim. The raised aft deck accommodates a full-beam owner's cabin aft with an en suite bathroom. A lower galley sits to port forward, with optional additional access from the saloon to the aft deck.
This 1997 example is powered by twin Caterpillar 375 hp diesel engines. At approximately 1,400 rpm, the boat cruises comfortably at around nine knots; at full throttle it reaches up to 16 knots depending on conditions. The yacht carries two cabins and two heads.
Equipment includes hydraulic stabilisers, a diesel generator, air conditioning, diesel heating, a hydraulic gangway, and an extended swim platform.
