The Catalina 36 MkII is a 1999 fiberglass cruising sailboat built around a 35-horsepower Universal M-35B diesel engine, equipped with a fin keel for stability and control. The boat carries a full complement of modern sailing gear: North Sails mainsail and genoa with integrated lazyjacks and stack pack, a UK Sailmakers spinnaker, standing rigging replaced in 2021, and excellent running rigging throughout. Ground tackle includes a 44-pound Rocna primary anchor with 120 feet of chain and 150 feet of nylon rode, plus a 25-pound Danforth spare. Deck features include a Maxwell Freedom 800 electric windlass, ForeSpar folding davits, dripless stuffing box, feathering propeller, and comprehensive Sunbrella canvas protection.
The two-cabin, one-head layout provides comfortable accommodations for extended cruising. The galley includes an Adler Barbour refrigerator and freezer installed in 2024, a two-burner propane stove with oven, and double stainless steel sink. The head is equipped with an upgraded electric Raritan unit and new waste hoses. Interior lighting uses LED throughout.
Electronics center on a B&G Zeus 2 chartplotter, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS, and AutoHelm autopilot and multifunction display at the nav desk. The electrical system features a Flagship Marine 16,000 BTU air conditioning and heating unit, ProMariner 40-amp battery charger, Balmar battery monitor, and 30-amp smart shore power connection.
The engine has logged only 1,119 hours and received a cooling system rebuild in 2023 with new heat exchanger, hoses, and thermostat. The bottom received fresh epoxy barrier coat and bottom paint in 2025. An automatic bilge pump and JVC stereo with cabin and cockpit speakers complete the outfit.
