This 2000 Catalina 470 is a proven offshore cruising yacht built on a solid, time-tested design. At 47 feet with a 14-foot beam, she offers a spacious interior with nearly 7 feet of headroom throughout. The two-cabin, two-head layout includes a walkaround queen in the aft cabin and a port-side double berth forward, each with its own ensuite head and walk-in shower. The boat handles easily with a crew of two or can be sailed singlehanded.
Power comes from a 75-horsepower Yanmar diesel with a cruising speed of 8 knots and maximum speed of 8.5 knots. A 2015 lightning strike prompted substantial system work: new standing rigging, new prop shaft with cutlass bearing and PSS seal, replacement of most motors and pumps, and inspection and barrier coating of the hull below the waterline. Raymarine navigation and control systems were installed at that time along with new radios.
The electrical systems have been upgraded with two arch-mounted solar panels feeding an MPPT controller, a high-output Balmar alternator with external voltage regulator, and a 2000-watt Xantrex inverter and battery charger to support off-grid cruising. A Fisher-Panda generator sits under the forward berth but is inoperable and was never replaced during the previous owner's cruising tenure. The boat includes a collection of spares: a starter, alternator, macerator pump, engine water pump, filters, and pump impellers. An additional 15-gallon water tank with level transmitter is included but not installed; that space was converted to a wine cellar. The boat is ready for extended cruising and backed by consistent maintenance and upgrades to systems and components.
