The 2000 Seaworthy Downeast 28 is a fiberglass-hulled cruiser powered by a single 225 hp Yammer diesel engine, capable of speeds to 18.7 knots. This model shares design lineage with the BHM 28, reflecting the common practice of that era where related hulls were built and marketed under different names. The boat measures 28 feet in length with a 10-foot beam, providing a capable platform for coastal and offshore cruising.
A Yammer diesel backed by an AquaDrive B20/CV30 transmission drives the boat. Recent mechanical work includes new motor mounts and a heat exchanger replacement in 2019, as well as an alternator upgrade fitted with a spare unit on hand. The engine benefits from dual Racor filters, a PSS dripless stuffing box, and additional soundproofing. Two automatic bilge pumps provide redundancy for water management.
Navigation and piloting are handled by a full RayMarine suite: a C95 9-inch multifunction display, RD418D radar, EV-200 autopilot with powerboat package, and SeaTalk NG network integration, complemented by dedicated depth, temperature, and speed transducers plus a rudder angle indicator. A new windlass was installed in 2025 with 125 feet of chain rode and a fresh anchor.
Accommodations include a V-berth with new memory foam cushions and Sunbrella covers added in 2024. The boat carries a Wallas stove, heater, and sink, along with a pump toilet and custom swim platform. Davits support a 7-foot hard dinghy complete with sail kit. Additional equipment spans a spotlight, dock lines, fenders, life jackets, and spare belts and filters. The boat is offered with a 2020 Loadmaster 3-axle trailer.
