2001 DeFever Pilothouse

Designed by Arthur DeFever, this 49-foot raised pilothouse trawler combines thoughtful layout with capable seagoing design. The solid fiberglass hull features a high flared bow, walk-around side decks, a Portuguese bridge, and side boarding gates for safe dock access. Two Perkins 225-horsepower diesel engines deliver economical cruising at 8 knots, with a top speed of 12 knots. A flybridge helm and a fully equipped pilothouse below both offer excellent visibility and comfort while underway.

The accommodations center on a master stateroom amidships with a walk-around queen berth, en-suite head with shower, hanging lockers, and drawer storage. Forward is a guest cabin with upper and lower single berths, teak storage, and four opening ports for ventilation. A second head serves the forward cabin. The salon features a fold-out futon, flat-screen television, and a 2023 washer/dryer. The galley is fitted with Corian countertops, a large stainless steel sink, 120-volt refrigerator/freezer, convection microwave, and induction cooktop, with abundant teak cabinetry throughout.

The engine room houses twin ZF HSW 630 transmissions with 2.5:1 reduction, a 12.5-kilowatt Westerbeke generator, hydraulic steering, and comprehensive fuel polishing and oil pump-out systems. Recent improvements include new bottom paint, fresh batteries with Victron monitoring, a new inverter charger, and updated propulsion shaft and transmission drive savers in 2024. Hurricane hydronic heating and reverse-cycle air conditioning provide year-round comfort.

Electronics and systems are thoroughly modern. A Furuno touchscreen multi-function display pairs with a standalone navigation computer, autopilot, open array radar, and dual VHF radios. A Maretron vessel monitoring system, 3000-watt inverter, and Starlink internet connectivity round out the package. Deck equipment includes a Maxwell windlass, life raft, 10-foot Caribe inflatable dinghy with new electric motor, freshwater washdown, and a comprehensive inventory of spare parts.
