The Island Packet 380 is a 39-foot cruising sailboat built on proven design principles developed across more than 1500 yachts. The boat features a full-foil keel offering moderate draft, integral one-piece construction for strength, and an effective airfoil shape for windward performance and speed. Power comes from a single Yanmar 4JH4AE diesel engine of 55 horsepower. The deck layout emphasizes safety with wide walkways, raised bulwarks forward, full-length stainless steel cabin top handrails, double lifelines with welded rails, and slip-resistant surfaces. The cockpit provides full-length contoured seating, excellent helm visibility from a raised seat, and console-mounted rack and pinion steering with a brake and single-lever engine control. The cutter rig includes freestanding staysail boom, dual single-line reefing on the mainsail, and self-tailing winches. Both the high clew jib and staysail feature Harken furling systems, with all sails built by Sobstad.
Below deck, the accommodations center on an open layout with generous cabin sole space and central tankage that improves stowage and weight distribution. The galley sits to starboard of the companionway and includes a sealed-burner LPG stove with oven, microwave, deep polished stainless steel sinks, and a well-insulated icebox with electric drain pump and provisions for electric refrigeration. The main salon features a central hinged table, full-length settees with the portside berth pulling out to a double, teak cabinetry, numerous opening ports and hatches, and a nav station aft of the port settee with an electrical panel controlling AC and DC systems.
The forward owner's cabin contains a centerline queen-sized island berth accessible from both sides, with a lift-up aft section revealing a large storage chest, plus drawers, storage bins, and a hanging locker. A private door connects to the head. The head itself is notably spacious, featuring a generous vanity with polished stainless steel sink, a folding shower enclosure with full-height acrylic doors and folding teak seat, large overhead hatch, and opening port. An aft cabin includes a full-length Pullman-style athwartship bunk, a built-in hideaway sink with folding faucet and hinged countertop, full-length mirror, opening ports, overhead hatch, cedar-lined hanging locker, and bureau.
Recent major upgrades completed in 2024 and 2025 include a new solar charger, MaxProp propeller, running rigging, refrigerator unit, battery charger, forward mattress, autopilot, EPIRB, six-man liferaft, Raymarine i60 wind instrument and vane, shower pump, house batteries, and serviced winches. The engine carries approximately 1000 hours.
