The Maxim 380 is an offshore cruising catamaran built in 2001 by Maxim Yachts in Durban, South Africa. Maxim constructed 53 of these well-regarded vessels between 1999 and 2007, known for their strong construction and shallow keels paired with fully protected skeg rudders that allow beaching at low tide.
The layout features a master cabin with en-suite heads in the port hull, two further double cabins with a second head in the starboard hull, and two single cabins forward currently used for storage. The galley is a secure U-shaped design with separate refrigeration and freezer, facing forward toward the main saloon with U-shaped seating and dining area. The navigation station with chart table sits aft. The cockpit is comfortable and spacious, fitted with a fixed table under canvas bimini supported by a stern arch. A wind generator and Spectra watermaker provide supplemental power and water independence, with batteries charged by both systems. Teak surfaces include an aft deck between the swim platforms and a walkway forward alongside the trampolines leading to the forward cross beam, with additional seating built into the pushpits and pulpits.
Twin Yammer 30 hp diesel engines power the boat, having accumulated just 3,000 hours. The saildrives were replaced in 2015. Canvas was fully replaced in 2023, and the trampolines and batteries were replaced in 2024. Raymarine sailing instruments include speed and depth readouts; an Icom DSC VHF radio is installed. The autopilot and wind instruments require attention. The helm station sits two steps above the cockpit for commanding visibility.
