The ALUBAT OVNI 435 is an aluminum centerboard cruising yacht designed by Philippe Briand, built specifically for serious offshore sailing and extended range cruising. Her aluminum hull and lifting keel deliver the dual advantage of robust bluewater performance alongside a shallow draft—just 2 feet 6 inches when raised—that opens access to remote anchorages. The boat displaces 24,250 pounds and carries a 55-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engine with 1,500 hours logged, capable of 6 knots cruising speed.
The interior is arranged as a two-cabin owner's version with accommodation for up to five. Forward and aft cabins provide private sleeping quarters, while the main deck features a wood cabin sole, Alcantara salon seating, and a wooden table for six. A dedicated navigation station occupies the chart area, and LED lighting runs throughout. The head includes a hot and cold shower setup. A FORCE 10 three-burner galley stove with integrated oven and grill serves the 34-gallon refrigerator and 10.5-gallon freezer.
Systems aboard support autonomous cruising: a SHENKER watermaker produces 16 gallons per hour; Webasto diesel heating and a Rietpol stove manage climate control; 400 watts of solar panels paired with a 400-watt wind generator feed dual alternators and Mastervolt battery management. A 2000-watt Mastervolt inverter/charger rounds out the power plant. Navigation electronics include a 2025 Garmin Echomap UHD chartplotter, Raymarine depth sounder and wind instruments, Lecomble & Schmitt hydraulic autopilot, and Starlink satellite internet.
The sail plan comprises a 2017 mainsail and genoa, a new spinnaker, and a staysail on a Selden mast with custom stainless bowsprit. Running rigging was replaced prior to an Atlantic crossing in 2022. Harken winches handle genoa and cutter sails, with additional mast-mounted units. The boat carries an AB 9-foot 2-inch dinghy with a 2026 Mercury 5-horsepower outboard, plus an inflatable canoe, fishing gear, primary and secondary anchors with 230 feet of chain, a Viking eight-person liferaft, and full safety equipment.
