This 2003 Grand Banks Classic 42 is a semi-displacement trawler yacht built with hand-laid fiberglass and a full keel, designed for long-range cruising and extended liveaboard comfort. Twin Caterpillar 420 HP diesel engines on direct drive shafts power the boat, each with just 1,729 hours. She cruises economically at 8–12 knots and reaches a maximum of 19 knots. The engine room is clean and well-organized, with a Northern Lights generator (1,017 hours) also onboard.
The layout centers on a generous single-level salon with an L-shaped teak settee and galley positioned at salon level to preserve the open feel. Large windows flood the space with natural light. The galley is fully equipped with a three-burner Princess electric stove and oven, Sharp convection microwave, separate refrigerator and freezer, generous counter space, and storage. Aft, the full-beam master cabin features a walk-around Queen berth, ensuite head, separate shower, washer/dryer, and substantial closet and drawer storage. Forward, a second private cabin offers guest accommodation with its own ensuite head, separate shower, and storage. The lower pilothouse serves as the main command station with excellent visibility and deck access, while the flybridge helm opens to a panoramic upper deck with dining and seating areas beneath a bimini top.
The teak interior throughout—cabinetry, trim, parquet salon floor—is in immaculate original condition. Both helm stations carry full electronics including Furuno chartplotter, radar and depth sounder, Simrad autopilot and wind indicator, and VHF radio. A 10' 11" RIB tender with steering console and 30 HP Honda outboard is included, deployed by crane arm. Recent work includes comprehensive engine service, new batteries (2026), exterior teak rail refinishing, and full vessel detailing. The freshwater pump has a slight leak and should be replaced; new canvas and bottom paint are recommended, though the existing canvas remains functional.
