This 2003 Hallberg-Rassy 34 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built for ocean passages. Hull No. 409, she features a tiller-steering configuration with a full-batten mainsail. She accommodates two cabins—one forward and one aft—plus a single head with manual flush toilet. Power comes from a Volvo Penta MD 2030 diesel engine producing 28 horsepower, paired with a Volvo 130S saildrive and three-blade folding propeller.
Between 2018 and 2022, the boat underwent two major refit periods. All standing and running rigging was replaced with new stainless steel and Dyneema halyards. A complete new sail package was installed—five sails in total: full-batten mainsail with three reefs, roller-furling jib, storm jib, cruising chute with snuffer, and code zero. The saildrive, propeller, and engine were fully reconditioned. New electronics include a Raymarine suite with nine-inch chart plotter, radar, autopilot, and evolution tillerplot system. Navigation and communication equipment include Class A AIS, Iridium Extreme satellite phone, VHF with DSC, and NAVTEX. Safety gear comprises EPIRB, SART, personal locator beacons, and a serviced liferaft.
During the 2022 refit in Lagos, Portugal, interior woodwork was completed by a master shipwright: a custom cherry-pine bookcase with storage, teak cockpit boards that create a flat sleeping platform, and reinforced support for a folding galley table. The hull was sanded to bare gelcoat, treated for pinholing, and finished with four coats of Gelshield and two coats of antifouling. All interior LED lighting was replaced. Three new Rolls AGM batteries and one Odyssey start battery were installed, along with an emergency battery system.
The boat includes an extensive inventory of spare parts and tools, complete equipment manuals, British Admiralty paper charts for Atlantic and Pacific waters, and cruising guides. A Yamaha 2.5-horsepower outboard engine with custom teak mounting bracket is included. All removable systems have been preserved for storage, including sails, rigging, and soft furnishings stored in climate-controlled conditions.
