2003 Hank Hinckley Great Harbor 26
About This Yacht
This 2003 Hank Hinckley Great Harbor 26 is a cold-molded wooden sloop built to exacting standards. The hull comprises three diagonal layers of western red cedar veneer with Honduran mahogany on the topsides, finished in clear Awlgrip urethane. Teak decking covers the working surface, while the cabin sides are finished in mahogany over marine plywood. The boat's construction—with oak backbone, laminated mahogany stem, and aircraft-grade Sitka spruce frames—reflects quality rarely found in boats this size.
Below deck, the interior showcases varnished mahogany trim against white bulkheads. The cabin sole is teak with holly inlay. Two 7-foot quarter berths with 4-inch cushions run along the sides, while the galley to port features a stainless steel sink and dual-burner electric stove with substantial storage. A marine head to port serves the main cabin, and the forward cabin provides additional bunk space and storage. All interior brightwork is sealed with gloss marine varnish.
The boat is powered by a Nanni N2-14 diesel engine with 14 horsepower and 60 hours of running time, driving a Twin Disc Technodrive feathering propeller via sailrive. A hydraulic lift system raises and lowers the fin keel, which retracts to just 2 feet of draft for shallow-water cruising and easy trailering. The fractional-rig sloop carries 303 square feet of sail on a custom carbon-fiber spar with fully battened mainsail on Harken track and self-tacking working jib.
Recent work includes a new engine and sailrive in 2020, hydraulic keel lift system in 2020, new feathering propeller in 2021, and the stove replaced with an electric unit in 2021. Topside brightwork was redone in 2022. Electronics include VHF radio, radar, depth and speed instruments, and a shore charger. The boat includes a redesigned two-axle trailering system.
