2004 Dudley Dix Jacobs Bros 43 Pilot

This 43-foot aluminum pilothouse cutter was designed by Dudley Dix and built by the respected Jacobs Bros yard in South Africa. The aluminum hull offers durability and low maintenance for extended cruising to remote regions. Powered by a Yanmar 4JH3-TE 75 hp diesel engine, the boat features a clean Scandinavian interior with bright, functional spaces designed around active sailing and comfortable living at sea. A raised main salon with large windows provides excellent visibility and seating for the crew, while a dedicated helm station to starboard offers full control and navigation access.

The accommodation plan comprises two cabins and one head with separate shower. The forward owner's cabin includes an overhead hatch, reading lights, and cabin fans. The head features a dedicated shower stall with teak grate and a retractable clothesline. The galley runs along the hull with a Force-10 three-burner stove, oven, and separate refrigerator and freezer. A watch settee on the port side offers additional seating with substantial storage below. The aft cabin functions as an excellent sea berth with a 6'2" bunk.

In 2021 the owner executed a comprehensive refit. Standing rigging and halyards were replaced; a carbon fiber whisker pole was added. The turbo and exhaust elbow were renewed, the hydraulic pump rebuilt, and the fuel system simplified. The Max-Prop was factory serviced and the cutlass bearing replaced. The bottom was stripped to bare metal and repainted. Eight Battle Born lithium batteries (800 amp hours) with Victron charging and monitoring were installed. Electronics upgrades included new Garmin and B&G navigation systems, forward scan sonar, and updated solar charging. An 8 kw Fischer Panda generator with 1310 hours rounds out the mechanical systems.

The boat carries a double spreader aluminum rig with electric and manual winches, equipped with mainsail, trysail, genoa, jib, staysail, storm jib, Code-0, and symmetrical spinnaker with sock. A Vetus bow thruster, Spectra watermaker, air conditioning, cabin heater, and comprehensive safety equipment including sea anchor and liferaft complete the package.
