2006 Island Packet 440

The Island Packet 440 is a proven cruising design built for extended passagemaking. This 2006 example features a fiberglass hull powered by a single 75-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, with a cruising speed of 7 knots and maximum speed of 8 knots. The boat carries a comprehensive sail plan with multiple configurations suited to varying conditions, backed by a full electronics suite and substantial power systems including solar panels and a generator.

The interior accommodates two staterooms with centerline berths, each with good storage. Two heads feature separate showers, and the galley is positioned forward with ample workspace. The navigation station faces forward and offers room for chart work and monitoring systems. The design prioritizes comfort and functionality for long-term cruising.

A new cockpit enclosure was added, along with OceanAir screens and shades for weather protection. The boat is equipped with a bow thruster, electric primary winches, and reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating in two zones. A stern swim platform provides easy water access, and davits are fitted for tender handling. The deck layout is designed around safe, spacious working areas.

Recent work in 2022 and 2023 included significant upgrades and improvements. The bottom was freshly painted and topsides waxed. Ship's spares and gear are aboard.
