The 2004 Hinckley Picnic Boat 36 EP is a downeast cruiser built with advanced composite construction—a Kevlar E-glass hybrid outer skin with balsa and carbon-fiber inner core, SCRIMPed with vinylester resin. The single 440-hp Yanmar diesel was rebuilt in October 2013 and shows approximately 2,091 total hours. The boat is powered through a Hamilton Jet Drive with a ZF reduction transmission and integrated bow thruster controlled via Hinckley's custom Jet Stick system.
The pilothouse layout combines helm and navigation forward with comfortable seating aft. The Stidd helm and passenger seats adjust for height, rake, and rotation, with a 14-inch stainless steel steering wheel. Navigation and electronics include a Garmin GPSMAP 8610xsv chartplotter with GMR 24 xHD radar, a Garmin GNX 20 instrument display, Raymarine autopilot, and an Icom M402 VHF with DSC. Teak trim throughout the helm station, companionway, toe rail, and eyebrow molding reflects Hinckley's traditional build standards. The pilothouse features tinted windows with teak trim, Stamoid curtains for full enclosure, multiple Hella fans, dimmable LED lighting, and a removable table that converts the pilothouse berth into a guest sleeping space—giving the boat three-person sleeping capacity with the V-berth forward.
Below, the boat sleeps two in the forward V-berth and includes a full galley with Corian countertops, Force 10 two-burner propane stove, 12-volt refrigeration, and stainless steel sink. The head features a Sealand Vacu-Flush marine toilet, fresh-water shower system with a Grohe handheld, and hot water heater heated by shore power or the engine. Cabin and trim throughout are satin-varnished cherry and teak. A 27-gallon holding tank serves the head. The electrical system includes three 12-volt batteries totaling 540 amps, an 80-amp alternator, MasterVolt inverter/charger, and 110-volt AC shore power. Air conditioning and Espar diesel heat provide climate control. An electric Muir windlass services a Delta anchor, 15 feet of stainless chain, and 150 feet of rode. Recent brightwork varnishing and a full boat cover are included.
