2004 Moody 56

This 2004 Moody 56 is a centre-cockpit cruising yacht designed by Bill Dixon and built to Ocean Category A classification for serious bluewater voyaging. The 55-foot fiberglass hull combines strong offshore construction with a raised saloon for excellent visibility, a protected centre cockpit, and a practical cutter-rig sail plan. The yacht is powered by a single 100 hp Yammer diesel engine, with a cruising speed of 6.7 knots and maximum speed of 9 knots.

The accommodation centres around a spacious owner's cabin aft, with three additional cabins for guests, two heads, and a practical galley. The raised saloon provides generous interior volume and comfortable seating, making the layout well-suited to extended cruising and liveaboard use.

Recent work includes renewed standing rigging and replacement mast wiring in 2023, new in-mast furling gear in 2022, replacement of all seacocks in 2024, and new cockpit seat teak in 2024. A fully overhauled Spectra Newport 700 watermaker was completed in 2025. New sails were added between 2023 and 2024: a mainsail in 2023, genoa in 2024, and staysail in 2024.

The yacht carries comprehensive offshore cruising systems including an Onan generator, lithium domestic batteries, Raymarine navigation electronics, AIS transceiver, HF and satellite communications equipment, bow thruster, electric winches, reverse-cycle air conditioning, solar charging, and Simpson electric davits. An aluminium RIB tender with Honda outboards is included.
