The 2005 Hunter 38 is a well-built fiberglass cruiser designed for accessible sailing and comfortable living aboard. This 38-footer carries a 40 hp Yammer diesel engine and draws just 5 feet, making it practical for exploring shallow waters. The boat features a B&R rig with in-mast furling mainsail—a 2021 Doyle sail—paired with a furling genoa, and all lines are led to the cockpit for single-handed operation.
The open cockpit is a defining feature, thanks to the elimination of a backstay and the addition of a stainless steel arch that supports the traveler and mainsheet. This arch provides mounting points for cockpit lights and speakers, and solid support for the bimini top. The boat is equipped with a cockpit bimini, dodger, and side panels in linen color, along with cockpit cushions. Steering is managed by a Whitlock Direct Drive system with a Lewmar folding wheel, complemented by Lewmar winches throughout.
Below deck, the Hunter accommodates two cabins and one head. The galley features a propane stove with oven, refrigerator with freezer, and a pressurized water system. Navigation and autopilot systems include a Raymarine ST6001 autopilot, R-C 530 plotter with a second station at the nav table, wind and speed indicators, depth sounder, rudder angle indicator, and radar. Additional equipment includes a line cutter on the prop shaft and VHF radio. A Sony stereo completes the onboard amenities. The hull carries a red bootstripe and Hunter logos.
