The Leopard 43 is a 43-foot catamaran built on a fiberglass hull with a beam of 23 feet. Power comes from two Yanmar diesel engines rated at 78 horsepower each. The boat carries substantial cruising systems and equipment throughout, with upgrades completed systematically over recent years.
Solar generation is a major strength: over 2,350 watts of panels installed across an aluminum arch and hard top, managed by six separate Victron MPPTs. A 1,000 amp-hour 12-volt lithium battery bank supports the electrical load. Water production comes via a SeaWater Pro dual-membrane water maker running at 40 gallons per hour. The boat carries dual air conditioning units and two freshwater electric heads in the forward cabins, all new in 2021.
Rigging and ground tackle have been renewed: standing rigging was replaced in 2021, a new genoa sail added the same year, and a 73-pound Rocna anchor deployed with 250 feet of galvanized chain. The rudders were professionally rebuilt with new seals and bearings. A Highfield 15-foot dinghy with a new 2024 Yamaha 25-horsepower outboard is included. Additional systems include Starlink, AIS, and a satellite phone.
Structural maintenance is evident throughout. An epoxy barrier coat was applied in 2023. All through-hulls were replaced in 2021. Deck perforations have been isolated with epoxy to prevent water intrusion into the core, escape and life-raft hatches were glassed, and new seals fitted to most hatches and portlights. The boat includes a partial lightning protection system and a reinforced tensioner for the main track arch.
