The 2006 Leopard 43 is a fiberglass catamaran built by Robertson & Caine in Cape Town, South Africa, and engineered for bluewater cruising and liveaboard comfort. At 43 feet with a 22.75-foot beam, she combines a proven four-cabin, four-head layout with twin 40-horsepower Yammer diesel engines on shaft drives—a configuration valued for reliability and straightforward maintenance. The boat's spacious bridgedeck saloon opens to an expansive hardtop cockpit with all-weather enclosures that were redesigned and rebuilt by the current owner. The wide sugar-scoop sterns provide easy water access and simple dinghy boarding.
Below deck, the accommodations center on a light-filled saloon with louvered windows on all sides, a mahogany table seating six, and a navigation station. The galley includes a Force 10 stove with oven, two refrigerator-freezer units, and a microwave. All four heads are electric with fresh water flush, and each of the four cabins offers independent access. A Spectra Catalina 300 watermaker produces 10 to 12 gallons per hour. Power comes from a 5.5-kilowatt generator, three 265-watt solar panels feeding a Midnite MPPT charge controller, and four AGM batteries with three years remaining on warranty. Two Cruisair reverse-cycle air conditioning units provide heating and cooling, with one replaced in 2025.
The navigation station is outfitted with a complete Raymarine system: an Axiom 9 Lighthouse 3 chartplotter, Quantum Q24D radar, EV-400 P70 autopilot with a drive motor recently rebuilt by Raymarine, AIS700 transceiver, ST60 depth sounder, I60 wind instrument, and a new Platismo compass. The engines, with approximately 5,500 hours, are controlled by single-lever helm controls with upgraded C-30 display panels showing both analog and digital vitals.
The boat's rigging was completely replaced in 2020, including all running and standing rigging and a 61-foot AWL mast. She carries a roller-furling 110-percent genoa and a fully battened mainsail with stack pack and lazy jacks. In October 2025, the boat was hauled for bottom paint, two new propellers were installed, three through-hulls and seacocks were replaced, and one air conditioning unit was renewed. During the first year of current ownership, both fuel tanks and fuel lines were replaced, the helm ignition panels were upgraded, and the entire wiring harness to the engines was replaced. A 12-foot dinghy with 20-horsepower outboard, new in 2023, sits on a fixed platform near the swim platform.
