2005 Manta 42 MkII

The 2005 Manta 42 MkII is a fiberglass catamaran built for serious long-range cruising and designed to be handled by a single operator. Twin 60-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engines power the yacht, supported by a comprehensive suite of modern electrical systems including a 2100W solar array, 900-amp-hour lithium battery bank, and Victron power management components installed in 2024. Communications equipment includes dual VHF radios, Starlink, and updated navigation systems.

The layout follows the owner's version plan, with the master stateroom and private ensuite located aft in the port hull, while the starboard hull accommodates two guest cabins sharing a head. The galley and salon provide comfortable entertaining space. Built-in storage lines both companionways, and conveniences include a countertop ice maker and portable refrigerator. The cockpit features helm controls with electric winches integrated to manage the main halyard, jib halyard, main sheet, jib sheet, and reef lines. A custom spinnaker sock and turtle bag are included.

The hull construction employs vacuum-bagged lamination using biaxial, triaxial, and unidirectional cloth with Core Cell and Nida Core honeycomb coring, finished with vinylester and isophthalic resins. Kevlar reinforces the bow and keel. All deck hardware is through-bolted with aluminum backing plates, thru-hull fittings are Marelon, and the hull-to-deck bond is reinforced with 360-degree unidirectional laminates creating a monocoque structure. Engine access is straightforward via hydraulic-assisted bunk lifts.

Recent maintenance includes a rebuilt port engine and replaced sail drive seals in 2025, new rudder bearings and seals in 2024, bottom paint and primer in early 2024, rigging inspection completed in 2026, and all winches serviced and regreased. The mainsail was cleaned and reconditioned in December 2024. A spare engine, starter, and alternator are included with the yacht.
