The 2006 Beneteau Oceanis 473 is a 47-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat powered by a Yanmar 4JH3HTE diesel engine rated at 100 horsepower. With approximately 3,000 engine hours, the boat achieves a cruising speed of 7 knots and a maximum speed of 8.5 knots. The sloop rig features an anodized aluminum mast and boom, a Thule performance mast, and a comprehensive sail inventory including a mainsail new in February 2023, genoa new in October 2023, high-visibility storm jib, and an asymmetric Genaker. Self-tailing Harken winches—two 56-speed units and two 40-speed units, one electric—manage the sails. A new bowsprit was installed in October 2023, and the furling system received a new drum and top swivel in January 2024.
Below deck, the boat offers three cabins and two heads. The forward cabin contains a double berth with ensuite head featuring a molded fiberglass sink and shower. The aft cabin also has a double berth and head with shower. A third cabin, originally a guest space, has been converted to a child's room with additional storage and includes a 230-volt washing machine installed in October 2023; this space remains convertible to an adult bedroom. The saloon features a U-shaped settee with a table that has adjustable height legs, and the convertible seating can accommodate two extra berths. All accommodation spaces have been refreshed with LED lighting throughout, and upholstery in the saloon and master cabin was renewed in 2019, with table upholstery updated in March 2023.
The galley to starboard is equipped with a double stainless steel sink, pressurized hot and cold water, an extra filtered tap for drinking water, a three-burner gas cooker with oven installed in February 2023, and two 12-volt electric refrigerators with an additional portable coolbox. An induction stove was added in October 2023. The freshwater system includes three 200-liter tanks totaling 600 liters, an 80-liter holding tank, and a Schenker ZEN 50 watermaker installed in September 2021.
The boat carries extensive modern electronics, including a Raymarine MFD Axiom+ 9 plotter, Radar Quantum 2, AIS transponder, autopilot with backup unit, and Hydrovane PACIFIC MF 4 self-steering. Navigation systems include a Tridata set mirrored at the starboard steering position, ICOM M505 GMDSS VHF, and a compass. Connectivity is provided by Starlink installed in May 2023, Iridium Go!
