2006 Hunter 38

The 2006 Hunter 38 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built for comfortable coastal voyages and longer passages. At 38 feet overall with a 12-foot beam and 4.8-foot draft, the boat draws on a fin keel and balanced spade rudder for stability and responsive handling. Power comes from a 40-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine with fewer than 200 hours, paired with a standard three-blade propeller. The fractional rig carries a mainsail and genoa with roller furlers; both sails were cleaned and restitched by Quantum Sails in 2022.

The interior is arranged for liveability, with two private cabins and one head featuring a shower. The cabin sole combines teak-and-holly laminate with solid teak joinery throughout. Headroom reaches 6 feet 6 inches in the main salon. The galley is fully equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, and freezer. A separate head entrance serves each cabin, and three hanging lockers provide additional storage alongside cockpit and below-deck lockers.

Comfort systems include dual-cycle heat and air conditioning units for the main and master cabins, 150 watts of solar panels with Victron controllers, and an inverter. The expansive cockpit features ample seating and a well-positioned helm. The signature sugar-scoop transom eases boarding and water access. Navigation electronics include GPS and a VHF radio with wireless remote, added in 2021.

Recent maintenance includes a new AGM house battery installed in 2021, new sanitation hose, and a full dodger and bimini with protective connectors fitted in 2023. The hull was soda-blasted with a new barrier coat applied in 2018, and the bottom has been painted every other year through 2023. A Kato Marine stainless-steel dinghy davit system accommodates larger tender and motor storage.
