The Island Packet 440 is a 46-foot cruising sailboat built in fiberglass with the kind of thoughtful design that made this model a step forward from its predecessor. It features a larger swim platform, solid teak and oak cabin soles, and acrylic countertops throughout. The hull is powered by a single 75-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, with a cruising speed of 6.5 knots and a maximum speed of 7.4 knots. The longer waterline and increased sail area deliver better performance than the earlier IP 420.
Below deck, the boat offers two cabins and two heads, arranged around a forward-facing navigation station. The galley features solid acrylic countertops, and the interior joinery reflects Island Packet's traditional build quality. Fuel, water, and holding tank capacities are larger than the previous model, suited to extended cruising.
This particular example has had two owners since new and carries complete maintenance logs. The sails have been updated, and the electrical system has been configured for self-sustaining off-grid operation. A Yanmar engine powers straightforward, reliable cruising performance typical of the class.
