This 2006 J/109 is a 36-foot fiberglass racing and cruising sloop built to compete and explore. Hull #288, called "Legacy," combines performance credentials with thorough maintenance and recent upgrades across systems, sails, and rigging.
The boat's bottom received a fresh VC Offshore racing finish professionally applied by Straight Marine. In 2025, new teak and holly floorboards refreshed the interior. The sail plan is current, with a racing main, genoa, and A2 all delivered or updated between 2023 and 2024. Mast fittings and rigging were upgraded in 2024. A Yanmar diesel engine of 29 hp provides auxiliary power, and the boat cruises at 7.2 knots with a top speed of 7.6 knots.
Below deck, two cabins and one head accommodate cruising and overnight guests. A factory dodger and removable dock box offer practical additions for daysailing and extended time away from the dock.
The boat benefits from six-month mechanical servicing intervals and has been continuously refined for both racing performance and comfort. The hull carries the distinction of VARC and ORC Boat of the Year in 2023.
