The Akilaria MK1 is a 40-foot Class 40 racing and cruising sailboat built in fiberglass. This is hull number 39 of the class. The boat features a carbon fiber mast and boom, with a 29 hp Nanni Kubota diesel engine driving a saildrive. A Harken J furler handles the jib, and the rig was removed and inspected in winter 2022–23 with new sheaves and dual Garmin wind instruments installed.
The sail inventory is substantial and current. The boat carries a North Endurance carbon mainsail from 2020, five Quantum sails in fresh condition, three new Quantum spinnakers, a spin-staysail, race J1, delivery J1, A2 and A3 delivery sails, and storm sails. All sails have been serviced and inspected as recently as 2025. The standing rigging was renewed in 2020, and running rigging was refreshed four seasons ago. Harken winches date to 2020.
Below deck, accommodations include a marine head with privacy curtain, updated V-berth and saloon cushions, a galley with manual sea and fresh water pumps, and a single burner stove. An updated ballast pump system allows quicker fill and uses a lighter pump.
Navigation and safety equipment is comprehensive. Twin Garmin multifunction displays (16 inches at the nav station, 12 inches in the cockpit) and a 48-mile Garmin radar provide situational awareness. Dual independent autopilots and updated Garmin wind instruments from 2025 assist sailing. The boat carries a canister life raft and full offshore safety gear. An ORC certificate and PHRF rating are current. Major systems have been recently serviced: the saildrive and engine received full service in 2025, the exhaust riser is new, and heat exchanger work was completed. The boat comes with its launching cradle.
