The 2007 Grand Banks 39 Eastbay SX is a composite downeast cruiser built on a proven design. Twin Yanmar 440-horsepower diesel engines are being installed as part of an ongoing repower, paired with new ZF transmissions and electronic controls. The boat reaches 27 knots at top speed and cruises at 24 knots. A C. Raymond Hunt-designed deep V hull with solid fiberglass below the waterline and foam core construction above delivers a smooth ride. The twin-screw setup with electronic controls and 12-volt bow thruster ensures good maneuverability.
The enclosed pilothouse is the hub of the boat, offering 360-degree visibility through large forward and side windows, curved corner glass, and opening windows with screens. A manual helm seat, passenger seat, and L-shaped settee with wet bar occupy the space, with a navigation desk forward of the passenger seat. Below decks, a galley with two-burner electric cooktop, microwave-convection oven, and refrigeration sits across from a spacious dinette. A separate head with full shower stall and large portlight completes the main cabin. The forward stateroom centers on a queen berth with hanging locker and abundant storage. Interior joinery is varnished teak with warm teak and white bulkheads.
The teak swim platform features a Freedom hydraulic dinghy lift. The cockpit is laid out in teak with a transom door for dock access, bench seating with storage, and a hot-and-cold shower. Deck hardware includes a stainless steel bow rail, midship gates, and traditional cleats. A raw water washdown faucet and seawater capabilities support cruising operations. Electrical systems include two 4D house batteries, dual alternators, a Xantrex inverter-charger, and dual 30-amp shore power inlets.
Electronics comprise a Raymarine Axiom Pro 12S chartplotter, Quantum 2 radar, p70s autopilot, and AIS. A Standard Horizon VHF, KVH digital compass, Bennett trim tabs, and an Onan 9-kilowatt generator round out the core systems. Air conditioning dual units keep the pilothouse and main cabin comfortable. Safety equipment includes a Fireboy automatic fire suppression system, three Rule 2000 bilge pumps, lifelines, and life buoy. A 12-volt Maxwell windlass with dual foot controls operates a stainless steel anchor platform.
