2007 Hanse 400

The Hanse 400 is a 39-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat built in 2007, powered by a 40-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine. She carries three cabins and one head, with a beam of 13.25 feet. The design is known for strong construction—the grid and primary bulkheads are glassed to both hull and deck—and balanced performance characteristics. Her sail plan is generous relative to her size, and she handles easily under self-tacking jib, a 4-line Dutchman mainsail flaking system, and UHMW low-friction track.

The interior features an optional light wood finish that fills the cabin with natural light. The master stateroom is an optional large double berth positioned aft, allowing comfortable entry and exit. The layout suits both cruising and daysailing. Teak decks run throughout and have been maintained with Semco Natural, preserving their appearance. Recent upheaval includes a complete new Quantum tri-radial sail set, upgraded lithium house batteries, a Victron charging and monitoring system with solar panels, new electronics centered on B&G Triton displays and a 9-inch Zeus3s plotter, an electric windlass, and an innerforestay for storm sails.

The electrical architecture is modern and robust: four lithium house batteries, Victron MultiPlus charger-inverters, BlueSolar MPPT solar controllers driving 460 watts of additional flexible panels, and full system monitoring. Navigation and communication equipment includes B&G radar, VHF radio with wireless remote, AIS transceiver, and three Triton multifunction displays at the helm and nav station. The mainsheet and control lines were recently replaced, as was the anchor rode with 90 feet of chain and 200 feet of 8-plait line. An Achilles inflatable dinghy with a nearly-new Honda outboard completes the equipment list.
