2007 J Boats J/122

The J/122 is a celebrated 40-foot performance sailing yacht built in 2007 using SCRIMP infusion moulding construction. This model combines a refined deck layout optimised for racing with comfortable live-aboard accommodations and straightforward sailing characteristics. The high-aspect, non-overlapping sail plan with a maximum 110% jib simplifies deck management and sail selection. A retractable carbon bowsprit deploys an asymmetric spinnaker for peak performance with minimal crew, while the setback headstay is recessed into the deck to maximise luff length whilst maintaining cockpit furling convenience. The ergonomic cockpit features a floor-mounted traveller, below-decks mainsheet system, offshore seatbacks, and remote backstay adjustment.

Accommodation comprises three cabins—a forward V-berth and two aft cabins—along with one head featuring an electric toilet and shower. The spacious saloon includes a chart table to port and blue upholstered seating. LED interior lighting, Eberspacher heating, a 220V calorifier with engine heat exchanger, and mosquito nets for portholes and hatches support extended cruising. The rig includes a keel-stepped aluminium mast with double spreaders, ROD stainless standing rigging upgraded in 2023, and a new hollow Harken forestay not yet fitted. Six Harken winches with three handles, electric windlass, lazy bag, lazy jack, and rigid boom vang complete the sail handling system. A 40 hp Volvo Penta D2-40B saildrive powers the yacht.

The boat carries an extensive modern navigation and electronics suite including B&G H3000 system with gyrocompass, ACP2 autopilot with dual control screens, dual 20/20 displays, wind instruments, Simrad VHF/DSC and AIS, and multiple interior displays. The electrical system includes dual pilot batteries and dual service batteries (both 2026), Mastervolt charger, Victron inverter, and battery monitoring. An unused fuel cell and Seatronic Zephir marine PC run Windows 11. The comprehensive sail wardrobe covers North 3DL and 3DI generation sails in multiple configurations, plus storm and staysails. Safety gear includes a serviced life raft, six automatic lifejackets, and full anchoring equipment. Engine hours stand at 2,033, with recent service of the new engine battery in 2024 and regular owner maintenance.
