The 2009 Fountaine Pajot Orana 44 is a sailing catamaran designed for both performance and comfort. Her efficient hull design and generous sail plan make her one of the better-sailing production catamarans in her class. The Maestro owner's layout is particularly distinctive, dedicating the entire starboard hull to a spacious owner's suite with an island queen berth, separate shower stall, excellent storage, and a forward workshop area. The port hull houses two guest cabins with queen berths and two private heads with integrated showers. Twin Volvo Penta D2-40F diesel engines with approximately 5,000 hours provide auxiliary power, supported by a Cummins Onan 9kW generator.
The accommodations feature three electric heads with three holding tanks, macerators, and pump-out capability throughout. A U-shaped galley includes an Isotherm refrigerator/freezer, three-burner ENO propane stove, and propane oven. Electrical systems comprise four 265-watt and two 100-watt solar panels totaling 1,260 watts, dual charging controllers, a Xantrex Freedom Marine 2000W inverter/charger, and multiple battery chargers. Navigation systems include a full Raymarine electronics package with A67 chartplotter, radar, ST6001 autopilot, and integrated instruments. Additional systems include AIS transceiver, VHF radio with emergency antenna, Starlink Mini connectivity, and comprehensive lighting throughout.
The sail inventory includes a 2019 Doyle square-top mainsail with three reef points, a 2025 Doyle genoa, spare headsails, free-flying staysail conversion, and an X-35 spinnaker. The aluminum Z-Spar double-spreader mast has been removed and stored indoors annually since 2016, with annual inspections. Deck equipment includes a Lofrans Cayman 88 electric windlass with remote control, Harken self-tailing winches, Profurl roller furler, and lazy jacks with stack pack. The 44-pound Lewmar Delta anchor connects to approximately 260 feet of chain and 300 feet of rope rode.
The boat carries an AB 12VL tender with a Yamaha 15-horsepower outboard, an eight-person Zodiac offshore liferaft, and extensive safety equipment including SOLAS lifejackets, lifesling, jacklines, and emergency tiller. Recent work includes fuel tank removal and repair, bottom repaint and hull polish in 2025, new Raymarine wind and water instruments in 2021, analog engine conversion in 2020, and interior updates completed in 2019. The mast has been inspected annually and the engines have received regular annual servicing. Included are engine spares, plumbing spares, dock lines, fenders, and galley inventory.
