2011 Hinckley Picnic Boat 37 MKIII

The 2011 Hinckley Picnic Boat 37 MKIII is a composite-hulled jet boat built with Hinckley's DualGuard construction—a hybrid of Kevlar and E-glass outer skin, aircraft-grade balsa below the waterline, and a carbon-fiber inner skin. Twin 480-horsepower Volvo D6 diesel engines with Hamilton jet drives deliver a top speed of approximately 35 knots and cruise at around 29 knots. The boat is equipped with a new JetStick 3 joystick control featuring G-Lock and Dockhold, Lenco trim tabs, and a seven-inch hydraulic bow thruster.

The pilothouse and cockpit showcase extensive varnished teak detailing—toe rails, handrails, cabin coaming, and sole—along with teak decks throughout. Below deck, a single cabin features varnished cherry cabinetry and accommodates a V-berth forward, a galley to port with electric stove and Sea Frost refrigeration, and a head to starboard with a Sealand vacuum flush system and 27-gallon holding tank. Forward of the main cabin is a V-berth with storage, cedar-lined hanging locker, and an opening hatch. The pilothouse seats four with an electric dining table and custom ice chest built into the port settee.

A comprehensive refit completed in 2024 replaced or renewed virtually every system and surface. New mechanical installations include transmissions, hydraulic systems, a Kohler generator, and a Volvo Glass Cockpit display. The electrical system was entirely rebuilt with a C-Zone digital switching system, three 12-volt AGM battery banks totaling 540 amperes, and a new 110-volt shore power panel. Garmin navigation electronics—including a GMR 18 xHD3 radar, GPSMAP 8616xsv chartplotter, Reactor autopilot, and AIS 800—were newly installed alongside a Fusion MS 770 entertainment system. Additional updates include new hull and deck paint, new canvas and cushions, new teak swim platform treads, and a Muir electric windlass with a polished stainless steel Delta anchor and rode.
