The 2012 Leopard 39 is a fiberglass catamaran built for cruising in sheltered waters and the Intracoastal Waterway. Its 39-foot length and 19.75-foot beam deliver the handling characteristics of a compact boat while preserving generous interior volume. Two Yanmar 3YM30AE diesel engines provide independent propulsion, with a Northern Lights 8kw generator for onboard power. The sloop rig features Z Spars aluminum masts and booms replaced in 2018, along with new standing rigging. Headsail roller furling and slab reefing make sail handling manageable for short-handed crews.
The three-cabin owners layout accommodates extended cruising with a separate single berth in the port bow. Both hull sides feature cabins with hanging lockers and under-berth storage. The saloon pairs cherrywood laminate joinery and black Corian countertops with new green Sunbrella cushions reupholstered in 2024. Two heads with oversized bowls and Corian basins serve the accommodation. The galley includes a Force 10 two-burner stove with oven, a 56-gallon Vitrifrigo fridge-freezer, and an upgraded faucet installed in 2022.
Systems are thoroughly provisioned. Water capacity totals 206 gallons across three tanks, supplemented by a Blue Water Desalinization watermaker delivering 8 gallons per hour. Two 92-gallon aluminum fuel tanks feed the main engines; two 6-gallon hot water tanks and a pressurized fresh-water system with accumulator provide domestic supply. A 600-amp-hour lithium battery bank charged by 1100 watts of solar panels and a 2000-watt Victron charger-inverter supports extended anchoring. Air conditioning includes a 16,000-btu Dometic unit installed in 2023 plus a reverse-cycle 16,000-btu system.
The rig and deck hardware reflect ongoing investment. New Harken 46 two-speed electric halyard winch at the helm feeds the main halyard directly for short-handed control. Two additional Harken 46 ST sheet winches and a Harken 20 ST mainsheet traveler winch complete the deck layout. US Sails main and jib from 2018 pair with a 2017 Lee Sails spinnaker. Recent maintenance includes new genoa sheets and furling line, fresh bottom paint and antifouling in February 2024, new Raymarine electronics, a Highfield CL310 tender with Honda 20hp outboard, and a new 55-pound Rocna Vulcan anchor with 200 feet of galvanized chain all installed in 2022–2023.
