The 2012 Leopard 44 is a fiberglass catamaran designed by Morrelli & Melvin and built by Robertson & Caine, measuring 42 feet in length with a 23.75-foot beam. Twin Yanmar diesel engines of 78 horsepower each provide reliable propulsion. The boat features a four-cabin, four-head layout with ensuite heads for each cabin—a configuration well suited to family cruising and extended voyaging. The design emphasizes open, flowing interior spaces with an aft cockpit that connects to the saloon, a forward cockpit lounge accessed directly from the main living area, and panoramic windows throughout for natural light and ventilation.
The yacht remains in its original, unmodified configuration. Mechanical work completed in recent years includes new rudder bearings (2020), replacement of both Yanmar SD60 saildrives (2020), new aluminum propellers (2020), and routine engine servicing (2024). The electrical system includes three Full River 4D AGM house batteries installed in 2021, new engine start batteries (2024), and a Victron SmartShunt with Bluetooth monitoring. Navigation equipment is comprehensive: a Raymarine Axiom Pro 12-inch multifunction display with 3D sonar, RV200 transducer, i50 Tridata, i60 wind instrument with new transducer (2023), and a refreshed VHF antenna and cabling (2023). A Northern Lights 6kW generator is included with recent service and a new fuel pump (2024).
The interior includes a Vitrifrigo refrigerator (2020), four new Lewmar hatches (2024) plus additional hatch upgrades from 2022, Bose multizone audio, and completed flooring repairs. Fresh bottom paint was applied in 2024. A 2023 Zodiac Cadet 390 aluminum RIB with a 15-horsepower Nissan two-stroke engine and 2024 service is included as tender.
The Leopard 44 was chartered prior to purchase and is reported to have no known hurricane history. Engine hours since acquisition total less than 550, with actual original hours unknown due to meter failure. The boat benefits from professional maintenance and remains well suited for cruising and passagemaking in offshore conditions.
