2014 Catana 42

This 2014 Catana 42 is a three-cabin cruising catamaran with twin 80 hp Volvo diesel engines and a shallow draft of 0.9 metres, designed for extended offshore voyages and distant cruising. The composite hull offers the stability and space typical of the type, with a beam of 22.6 metres and an overall length of 41.3 metres.

The layout includes three cabins and four heads, along with galley and saloon spaces across both hulls. On deck, the catamaran features a rigid bimini top, forward sun lounger, cockpit cushions, and a substantial hardtop shade system. Below decks, accommodations are supported by a desalination unit producing 60 litres per hour, hot and water showers, a washing machine, dual refrigerators, and forced-air heating.

The sailing plan comprises a genoa on roller furling, a mainsail in Hydranet, and a symmetric spinnaker. Power systems include a 4 kVA generator, a 3000W converter, 960 Ah lithium batteries, and 1000W of solar panels. Navigation electronics are Raymarine-based, with a 15-inch chartplotter at the chart table and a 9-inch screen at the starboard helm, plus radar and AIS. Seven Harken winches manage the sail systems.

The boat carries twin anchors—a 21 kg stainless steel unit with 60 metres of chain and a Fortress backup—and includes a 3.4-metre AB tender with a 15 hp Yamaha outboard. Recent work includes a Coppercoat 2024 application for antifouling, cockpit upholstery fitted in 2025, new sails in 2022, and engine and generator servicing in 2025.
