This 2017 Cascade 44 High Side is a custom-built bluewater cruiser based on a 1978 hull lay-up. The fiberglass hull and deck were extended two feet during the build, increasing waterline length, performance, and interior volume. Powered by a 60-horsepower Isuzu diesel engine, the boat has never entered saltwater and has been used exclusively on freshwater since its launch, preserving all systems and minimizing corrosion risk.
The interior features black walnut soles with teak cabinet doors and trim throughout. The galley includes a gimbaled three-burner propane range with oven, microwave, and a 20-gallon hot water heater. Heating is provided by a diesel-fired Hydronic M cabin system. An LG 32-inch flat screen television and Kenwood stereo with remote speakers are installed, along with an Aquatek hot and cold cockpit shower.
Electrical power comes from a 4-kilowatt diesel generator paired with a Xantrex Freedom 25 inverter-charger rated at 2500 watts with 100-amp charging capacity. Four fuel tanks hold 180 gallons of diesel. The 7,200-pound custom Orca lead wing keel provides stability for offshore work. SeaStar hydraulic steering with manual backup steering is fitted, and an anchor windlass provides powered up and down operation.
Navigation and communications equipment includes dual Garmin 741XS multifunction displays with GPS and depth sounder, Garmin 300 VHF with AIS, Garmin radar, Garmin wind indicator, and Raymarine autopilot. The rig features a new mast and standing rigging installed during construction, with a Gearhard boom traveler, aluminum toe rails, stainless stanchions with double lifelines, and bronze-framed portlights throughout.
