2017 Hylas 63

The 2017 Hylas 63 is a German Frers–designed bluewater cruiser built by Hylas Yachts and Queen Long Marine. Built from fiberglass, she measures 63 feet overall with a 17.67-foot beam and is powered by a single 220-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine. Her cutter rig features hydraulic in-mast furling with hydraulic outhaul, hydraulic headsail furlers, and electric primary and mainsheet winches—all configured for short-handed offshore operation. Additional deck systems include bow and retractable stern thrusters, sturdy ground tackle, and a davit-launched center-console tender.

The yacht accommodates four cabins and three heads, with interior layout designed around extended liveaboard cruising and serious long-range storage. Electrical architecture is dual-voltage with a lithium house bank and solar generation. Her systems package for remote voyaging includes substantial fuel and water capacity, an onboard watermaker, and satellite communications. Cockpit design prioritizes weather protection and ergonomic control for small crews managing ocean passages.

The hull has completed approximately 80,000 nautical miles over nine years, with documented passage records, maintenance logs, and operational history. In 2024, the yacht returned to the Hylas yard in Kaohsiung for an in-depth refit that included keel bolt inspection and tightening, carpentry work, interior and exterior upholstery renewal, and other structural and systems attention. The refit was carried out by the builder's own team.
